J’s Dinners
Due to my photography classes once a week, J’s responsible for dinner that evening.
I’m not sure if it’s the same situation with every guy but whenever J’s cooking, he get so intense! The last time I had that same look in my eyes was when I was solving differential equations at A Levels!
No one’s allowed into the kitchen and no one’s allowed to do or say anything which might distract him from his masterpiece.
It cracks me up everytime. So you can imagine how difficult it was to get this shot of him concentrating so hard to place the potatoes perfectly into the oven dish for his signature sausage casserole dish.
Which was delicious by the way…

Oh, if only my hubby would make the effort, I would be so grateful !
I hv told my bros abt this dilemma n they tried to inspire him by asking him to join in the acitvities on sunday lunches (yes, the men provides the goodies to the ladies on the weekend – hehe)during our visit in SG. He seems happy to help but it’s back to square one the moment we r back here *heads shaking*
His reasons were that I dont like what he cooks (true lah). He tends to mask his dishes with an over-kill of indo spices, so long the taste is hot (yeah, he’s a sambal king !). We hv cookbooks with SG recipes which he likes when I made them but he never attempts to make them for me – ever !
When he has to eat alone, he simply makes a cheese sandwich n a cup of tea – sigh, sigh, what is a girl to do with a man like that ?
I know exactly what you mean!! J pops a pizza in the oven if he’s home alone…never bothers to cook anything.
But I have to say, after years of me pushing him to try to pick up some simple recipes so that I can have a “day off”….he’s now pretty good at making nasi goreng and kway teow (all the much simpler dishes..) and steaming some dumplings (siew mai). And his chilli-tolerance has been definitely improved since meeting me.
He does do the odd British dishes as well which I love. He’s actually pretty good at it…if he just relaxes and not get so worked up about it! LOL
My signature dish? Fried rice with whatever I can lay my hands on. In fact, I would refrain cooking something that requires more than 30min of preparation + cooking time. But I don’t mind eating some well prepared food though.
