Long Exposure Shots at the fairground
I couldn’t believe how much fun these were to take! I was on f22, 5-8secs, manual focus, VR off, mostly 18mm focal length. Mounted the D90 on the tripod, framed the shot and just snapped away!

The rides starting closing down at 9pm which wasn’t even dark yet so I reckon I could have had better shots if the fair was open much later. However, on the other hand, I do like how the blue in the sky in some of the shots.
Either way, it was still so much fun!

The top shot is just so good it is hard to say how it could be improved. May be just darken the top left corner.
The secomd one is also of a very high standard. Would benifit from darkening top right.
The third photo would benifit from white balance being a touch warmer.
I agree the fact that it was not totaly dark is what makes thes photos.
Yesterday, Digital Photographer was asking for long exposure images for use in magazine, this is the link http://www.dphotographer.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1701 I would suggest entering the top two. They do not pay, but it is good exposure.
Martin
yeah thanks Martin…I’ll play around with them as per your suggestions and see how they turn out.
Magazine sounds awesome. Not sure if they will make it though but definitely worth a shot!
Thanks again!
