I am one of those girls who, as J would often proclaim: “don’t seem to have sensible shoes”.

And it’s become even more apparent over the past few weeks that he is right! I get blisters from my Steve Maddens after a night out. I get knee/back aches from my DUO boots after an afternoon of shopping and most recently, I freeze my toes off in 5 minutes and slide all over the pavement regardless of which footwear I’ve got on.

Which brings me to the fact that I haven’t got good proper, warm & sturdy snow boots.

Surfing the web over the past few days brought me into a world of “Removable inner Thermoplus lining”, “Bonded felt frosted plugs” and “Seam-sealed waterproof construction”. Not forgetting “thick rubber midsoles” and “non-loading outsoles”

Woah! I bet they are warm.

I mean, some of these boots are rated to keep your precious little toes warm up to -40degs! However, they don’t come cheap. With the cheapest going at £74.95, you can be sure that this would be one purchase you won’t be taking lightly. However, based on the various reviews online, it would be a long-term investment as these boots were build to last. Now, I just gotta decide on which one….

I call her Bug. (Yes I named her.) And she’s been good to me. I didn’t have high expectations (who would for a 1995 old banger which only costed me £700) and she didn’t dissapoint. She was a dream to drive.

I still drive her though. Except that now, if you need a lift (I wouldn’t advise one if I were you) but if you had no other choice and had to get a lift from me, you will have to enter through the driver side, manouver yourself over the handbrake and gear stick to get to your seat. Try not to hit ya head against the roof while you’re at it. Do the same in reverse when we get there.

Oh and please don’t wind the window down, they don’t work anymore.

This past week, J and I have been away in Devon for a much needed break. We booked a few nights in a B&B in a little village just off Dartmouth and were pleasantly surprised with our choice. Greeted with home made fruit cake and a pot of tea, on the balcony overlooking the sea was more than we could possibly ask for. An extra bonus was that the B&B was seconds away from the coastal path which would lead us to a perfect tranquil little beach only know to locals in the area. There was hardly anyone around and we had the beach pretty much to ourselves ; which was a far cry from the noise and bustle of holidaymakers on Blackpool Sands.

All in all, we had a brilliant time and were a little dissapointed to be heading home.

It’s that time of the year again when I feel I’ve got to sort my next holiday before Christmas. Summer’s here (well British summer anyway) and it’s depressing being in the office all day wasting the sunshine away. I start to reminisce my uni days when I used to enjoy 12 whole weeks of utter bliss doing absolutely nothing but enjoying the summer (while working part-time at Starbucks).

Since our holiday in Singapore, I figured that we couldn’t really afford to have another big holiday. However, what’s to say we can’t have a small low budget holiday in the UK? I love B&Bs. To be perfectly honest, I’ve never really knew they existed! But ever since J bought me to one for our 1st trip away, I’ve fallen in love with them (and with him as well..duh!).

I love the personal touches you get from homes that have been converted to B&Bs. The secluded little cottage in the middle of the countryside where all you can see is acres and acres of farms, cows, narrow winding roads and complete peace and quiet. I love the hosts…usually a couple…slightly older…always eager to please and simple…nothing too fancy…

Therefore, I’m looking into a week away with J in a little B&B somewhere slightly secluded and I’ve narrowed it down to Devon. Now comes the difficult bit…where exactly in Devon? I haven’t got a clue… any ideas?

I have had a few e-mails from readers asking about my recent trip to Singapore. I have been meaning to blog about it but just haven’t gotten round to it!

If you’ve ever been to Singapore, you would know that the one thing Singaporean are very passionate about is the local Singaporean food.

Whenever I go back, I kinda have a list of local delicacies which I HAVE to eat or else my trip would be in vain. For the sake of those who haven’t been to Singapore, I thought I’d blog about some of the food we ate recently during this trip.

Ice Kacang

A simple, inexpensive desert comprising of nothing more than favourings, food colouring, some ‘chendol’ and crushed ICE. I love popping down into my local hawker centre at 2 in the morning and having a nice cold bowl of ice kacang.

Hainanese Chicken Rice

This has got to be one of my favourite dishes and is arguably one of Singapore’s most loved meal. You will find them everywhere and it’s oh so hugely satisfying. It’s basically a rice dish accompanied with roasted or steamed chicken pieces. The rice is especially fragrant as it’s cooked in chicken stock and the special chicken rice chilli sauce goes amazingly well with a touch of thick black soya sauce. I’m crazing it already!

Teppanyaki?

Now, I don’t know what this is properly categorized as. Japanese? I’m not sure. The stall is called “Teppanyaki” but the term teppanyaki here in the UK means something quite different…so it’s a little confusing. Anyway, I love the minced pork dish they serve and it comes accompanied with some stir-fried beansprouts, green vegetables and the meat generously stirred in their delicious sauce (not sure what the sauce is but it tastes so good!). Everything is cooked right in front of you and you see exactly what goes into your food. Once prepared, it’s served on aluminium foils placed over burners so your meal stays warm longer. A definite must-try!

Prawn Noodles - Dry

Traditional dish. Yellow noodles tossed with prawns and fish cake slices. You can have it dry or soupy. I prefer it dry as it’s much more spicy. As you can see from the picture, I’ve even asked for extra fresh chopped chillies! Believe it or not- this is a very common breakfast dish for me when I was living back in Singapore.

Roti Prata

One of my all-time favourites. A common breakfast dish but what I love about roti prata is the fact you can have it anytime! It’s light and the curry that goes along it, makes it just perfect. I remember having sober-up meals of roti prata house at 3am in the morning after a night of partying. haha

Well! All that food talk’s made me hungry! Those aren’t all though. I still in the process of sorting through my 600+ pics from the trip. So be warned: there will be more food posts in the near future.

It was so nice to watch J interact with my family (eventhough most of the time he’s trying to grasp the whole Singlish way of speaking). He did good.

View from my parents flat

The weather was better than I expected. We did catch 2 thunderstorms but nothing too serious to ruin our plans for the day. To be perfectly honest, it got so hot on some days, I was grateful for a few rainy showers to cool the temperature down!

It’s been 24 hours since I’ve landed back in the UK and I miss the food already…

Now, there are only 2 seasons in Singapore; it’s either hot or it’s rainy. There comes the annual monsoon season which stretches till Feb…sometimes maybe even into March. Beach resorts suffer their least busiest period during the monsoon because the tides are too rough and the beach…well, the beach is the last place you wanna be at during the monsoon. But once April kicks in, the sun’s out…the beach is calmer, the clouds dissapear and you got the HOT season…

However, this year, the year I’ve chosen to go for a holiday…the year James will be visiting Singapore for the 1st time, the monsoon has somehow decided to linger a little while longer…

Great. Just. Great.

For those of you with small boobs, you probably already know the constant dos and don’ts we’re bombarded with from “fashion experts” about our bikinis:

I have a love-hate relationship with bikinis. I hate how it’s a constant reminder of my small boobs yet on the other hand, I love how sexy some of them are!

For those of you with small boobs, you probably already know the constant dos and don’ts we’re bombarded with from “fashion experts” about our bikinis:

DO get prints. DON’T get solids. DO get ruffles. DON’T get bandeaus. DO get halternecks.

I have just one. You probably won’t agree but here goes anyway. Whenever, I’m shopping for my bikinis, I always get the loudest, brightest and skimpiest one out there. That way, the last thing anyone will be focussing on are your boobs!

You know, the ones with prints and colours (in season ones of course) and littlest string bikini bottoms with halterneck tops which go right down low to show whatever cleavage I should possibly squeeze out of my little mosquito bites (see Aaron Chang pic).

I also try to get ones which fastens at the front; that way, you can squeeze your boobs closer together; creating your own “custom-made” cleavage however you see fit!

I’ve tried and tested many different brands of bikinis over the years and the high-street ones are just not my cup of tea. They just don’t cater to smaller busted women!

Anyway, I’ve got my bikinis for this trip already…time now to sort out my summer dresses ( which I have completely forgotten about and even left it out of my list!)
